The Trying Times

Weekly Note

Good morning subscriber,
One of the unexpected things retirement has taught me is that simplifying your life has very little to do with the size of your home.
Over the years, I've gradually let go of things I thought I needed. Not because I had to, but because I realized they weren't adding anything to my life.
A smaller home.
Fewer possessions.
Less to clean.
Less to maintain.
Less money tied up in things I rarely used.
What surprised me most is that every time I got rid of something unnecessary, I felt like I had gained a little more freedom.
That's what my next YouTube video is about.
Not minimalism.
Not deprivation.
Just simplifying life in retirement so there's more room for the things that actually matter.
I'll share some of the changes I've made over the years, why I continue to simplify even today, and why I think many of us spend years chasing things we eventually realize we never really needed.
If this topic speaks to you, you might enjoy an older article I wrote:
The Art of Simplifying for the Golden Years.
I'm looking forward to expanding on those ideas in the new video.
Sometimes the biggest upgrade in retirement isn't getting more.
It's finally realizing you need less.
Talk soon,
Don
